Barack Obama Biography :Currently, I’m sure the whole world know who Barack Obama is. Yes, he is the president of United States today. Obama is the first African-American to be nominated by a major American political party to become president. Because of that, many people who admire and want to know about Barack Obama biography. Of course, my intention here is beyond his policies.
Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4, 1961. Also used Barry Soetoro as his name while living in Indonesia in 1967-1971. Obama’s biological father, who is Barack Hussein Obama Sr. was born in Kenya in 1936, died in Nairobi in a car accident in 1982. After Obama’s mother divorced Obama’s father, then her mother (Ann Dunham) was married again to an Indonesian manager of a national oil company named Lolo Soetoro who was at that time studied at University of Hawaii.
In 1967 Lolo Soetoro returned to Indonesia with Ann Dunham and Obama, and lives in Jakarta. Four years later his mother send Obama back to Hawaii (1971) to be raised by his grandparents and studied at Punahou School from fifth grade in 1971 until graduating high school in 1979. Obama’s mother returned to Hawaii in 1972 for several years and then to Indonesia to complete fieldwork for her doctoral dissertation. She died of uterine cancer in 1995.
After senior high school, Obama moved to Los Angeles and then he studied at Occidental College for two years. He was later transferred to Columbia University in New York City, and later he graduated in political science with an advantage in international relations. Not only that Obama graduated from Harvard University Law School also, where he served as president of the Harvard Law Review, Obama worked as a coordinator of community and served as a civil rights lawyer before becoming Illinois Senate for three times from 1997 to 2004. He also taught Constitutional Law at University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004.
After the victory in March 2004, Obama delivered his key note at Democratic National Convention in July 2004. He was elected to Senate in November 2004 with 70 percent of the vote.
As a member of the Democratic minority in the 109th Congress, he helped enact laws that regulate conventional weapons and to promote public accountability in the use of federal funds. He also made official trips to Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa. During the 110th Congress, he helped create a draft law on lobbying and electoral fraud, climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for returned U.S. military personnel.
Obama announced his presidential campaign in February 2007, and was nominated at Democratic National Convention 2008 with Delaware’s senator, Joe Biden as a campaign partner. And On November 4, 2008 Barack Obama’s success to beat his rival Senator John Mccain from republican party and became the 44th of United States President.
Born in Hawaii, Obama become the first U.S. president who was born outside of the mainland United States. He also become the fifth youngest president when the position and the second one since Lincoln who is a political base located primarily in Illinois.
How about his family? Obama met his wife, Michelle Robinson, in June 1989 when he worked as a summer associate for law firm Sidley & Austin in Chicago. As an advisor to Obama for three months at the firm, Robinson joined him in a social group, but initially refused requests for a date. They began dating at that summer, became engaged in 1991, and married on October 3, 1992. Their first child, Malia Ann, was born in 1998, followed by a second daughter, Natasha (“Sasha”), in 2001.
